Apple Cider Sangria

To start, apple, pear and orange chunks, plus a cinnamon stick, macerate in Duplin American Port until they are infused with sweet, caramelly flavor. Duplin Pum'kin red — only available while it lasts in fall — or Duplin Burgundy go into the pitcher, right over the port and fruit. Then comes apple cider. The combination is a fruity delight with a spice punch that keeps your team happy, from tailgate season to the holidays and, heck, right up until the first warm day of spring.

  • 1 pear, cored and cut into small chunks
  • 1/2 orange

  • 1 cinnamon stick or 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 bottle Duplin Pum’kin or Duplin Burgundy
  • 3 cups apple cider
  • Garnish: cinnamon sticks and orange slices

  3. Fill glasses halfway with ice. Add a couple tablespoons of fruit from the sangria to each glass. Fill glasses with sangria. Garnish with cinnamon sticks and orange slices.
  4. Makes 8-10 servings
