Behind The Shipping Scenes

Welcome, everyone! This is Wendy at the Winery. Today I think it would be interesting for you guys to be taken on a virtual field trip. I know a lot of times when you place your orders for our cases of wine you probably think, “what happens after I place my order?”

Well today, I'm going to take you on a virtual tour, from your couch or your chair to our shipping department. I'm going to show you the whole process so that you know when you get the case of wine you've been waiting for you will know who treated your order with extra TLC!

So, if you're ready, let's go!

In our Rose Hill retail store, you’ll find Tabatha placing a phone order for one of our customers. Typically, Tabatha can be found in The Bistro Kitchen, cookin’ up some of her award-winning dishes and desserts. Since the Bistro is temporarily closed, she’s jumped right in to help process orders from our customers.

Meet Kelly, some of you may remember her from her Duplin Family Favorites video, she’s not only taking phone orders, but she’s calling our customers to check in with them. She’s wanting to make sure everyone is doing well and let them know that we’re here if they need us.

Many of you have talked to or emailed with Jennifer. She processes all of the online and phone orders, she also manages our Heritage Wine Club. Her typical day starts early; she checks the online orders first thing to make sure that everything went through correctly. Whenever she catches anything that might be an issue, she calls whoever placed the order and fixes it. After all is well, she prints the packing and shipping labels and prepares them to be delivered to our shipping department.

The labels are then handed over to Ian, who wears many different hats at Duplin. Not only does he spend a lot of time helping organize everyone’s packages, he is a videographer. You’ve definitely seen his work, this video is just one of his many creative pieces.

We finally arrive at shipping. Lately, our shipping department has been hustling trying to make sure we get everyone’s orders out as fast as possible. Duplin employees from all departments have stepped in to make sure we get your order out quickly, safely and with a little love.

Billy has also pitched in, his ability to multi-task and lead quality control checks is helpful when everyone is moving fast to pack all of the orders.

In addition, Jonathan frequently jumps in to help gather and pack orders when we have big order days, which is greatly appreciated by all.

We carefully look at each order and retrieve your wines directly from the controlled access warehouse. Each item is carefully checked off to make sure that we don’t miss anything on the order. Before any order is finished and sealed, the associate who assembled your package leaves a little personal note, just to let you know that your order was packed with some Duplin love.

Our Duplin staff wanted to take a moment and personally thank some of our recent wine orders.

Crystal, who is found most often at The Chapel in the Duplin Vineyards as our Private Event Manager, was helping our shipping associates and wanted to personally thank John, from Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania for his order of Pelican Red and Sangria White.

Amber, who can be found in almost all departments because of her wide variety of talents, also jumps in to assist shipping. She wants to make sure that Amy from Conway knows that we appreciate her order of our Sangria’s and Sweet Caroline.

Our Off-site Events Manager, Madison also lends a hand and gives a shout out to Lorna from Raleigh, North Carolina for having the same excellent taste as she does. They both love Black River Red and Black River Red Reserve.

So, how did you enjoy your tour of our shipping department?

I hope that this is given you a little insight to behind the scenes. Now you know what happens to your order after you either place it online or over the phone. Duplin Winery wants you to be safe at home, enjoy our wine and we want to see you soon. Wendy and from all of the different winery family ... we want you to remember that Life is Sweeter at Duplin.
