If you’re missing 4th of July fireworks in 2020, "Dine & Wine" host Frank has a recipe sure to get sparks flying.

One of the things you can do with jalapeños is infuse wine. Frank likes to do that with our popular Hatteras Red wine. He calls this drink a "Hatteras Red Hot."

You don’t have to infuse it for long. Leaving peppers in the wine for 24 hours is enough time to create a spicy wine for sipping on its own, over ice or in a cocktail. Infuse any longer than a day and you’ll be passing around shots of wine to see who can stand the heat, which could be fun – as long as you have some vanilla ice cream nearby to cool the burn.

The recipe is easy. Hit the link below to find it. But you’re probably wondering, “What the heck does a Hatteras Red Hot taste like?” Hatteras already has a little bite at the end. When you add in jalapeños, it’s more like a kick at the start. The infused wine has noticeable jalapeño flavor, not just heat, but actual pepper flavor that enhances Hatteras Red’s sweet fruitiness.

Serve chilled, jalapeño-infused Hatteras Red straight up as a fun little taste or pour it into taller glasses filled with ice. You could also use it for a twist on sangria or serve it with a splash of sparkling water or lemon-lime soda. Use our Cape Fear Pirate Candy candied jalapeños to garnish whatever drink you prepare.
