Dave and Jonathan’s mother, Ann Fussell, loves to showcase a longtime Duplin favorite, Magnolia white wine, in a fizzy, refreshing lemonade she calls "Summertime Wine Spritzer." It’s Duplin’s oldest and most beloved cocktail recipe. "At our first dinner shows, we would make buckets of it and stand on the front porch scooping it into cups,” Duplin general manager Morgan Jackson said.
Blackberry Lavender Lemonade
When it's time to throw a fancy summer shindig, this sophisticated lemonade has the right level of elegance without much fuss. First, pour 1 cup of Dupin Blackberry wine and 1 cup of sugar into a medium saucepan set on the stove over medium heat. Stir the mixture until the sugar melts and then cook slowly until the mixture thickens enough to coat the back of a spoon. Remove from heat and stir in about 1 tablespoon of dry culinary lavendar and let steep for 10 to 15 minutes. Strain the mixture through a mesh and cool. Then, pour the rest of that bottle of Duplin Blackberry Wine and 1 packet of Duplin Electric Lemonade Sweetzer into a pitcher and refrigerate. Finally, add Blackberry-lavender syrup to your taste to the wine mixture. Add the syrup about 1 tablespoon at a time, tasting after each addition until you have a balance of sweet, tart, and floral that you like. Pour the mixture into glasses filled with ice. Finish each glass with seltzer if you'd like a little fizz. Garnish the drinks with fresh blackberries and a sprig of fresh or dried lavender.
