Mardi Gras cocktails: Sangarita is better than a Hurricane

A fruitty cocktail like the Hurricane is a Mardi Gras tradition, and this part-sangria, part margarita batch cocktail full of fresh fruit is a festive way to celebrate Fat Tuesday.

Duplin Heritage Wine Club members Tracey and Ronnie Haynes are the masterminds behind the drink they named Sangarita. The fruitty part comes from Duplin Red Sangria and White Sangria wines, plus a bunch of cut fresh fruit like oranges, pineapple and strawberries. The margarita part comes from white tequila.

The Sangarita is beautiful served in a big pitcher full of fruit. It's a fun and colorful drink at Mardi Gras celebrations but also for summer days at the beach. Make it in the morning, pop it in the fridge and let the good times roll.
