Your Pure Joy January Calendar

January gets a bad rap. And for no good reason. It's a month dedicated to fresh starts and new opportunities. Anything is possible! So, instead of feeling like the party is over, take time each day to pay forward your blessings and share some joy with this January calendar of things to celebrate all through a month of hope and promise.

National Mocktail Week

Muscadine mocktails are exactly what you need to bring on the fun during National Mocktail Week. Scheduled the second week in January, it's a good time to get better aquainted with the muscadine grapes used to make Duplin non-alcoholic wines. Muscadines are nutritional powerhouses, and their juices load unique flavor into non-alcoholic drinks. Try the gorgeously layered Ginger Sunrise while you’re making 2025 travel plans for beach vacations. Zero-proof Palomas or Pineapple Mi-no-sas always brighten up brunch. Load a Winter Sangria-less with apples, grapes and pears. We have all the recipes you need!

Self-Love Month

You do so much for everyone. Take time in January to appreciate you and treat yourself to the things that make you feel your best. Meditate, reflect on your achievements and remember who you are. Don't forget to book some special me time, like an art class where you can stretch your creative muscles and meet new friends. Or a dinner show full of music and laughter. When your blessed with those unseasonable warm winter days, get outside and mingle. You deserve this.

National Spaghetti Day January 4

Something about spaghetti takes us right back to begin kids. And for all the beef about carbs, they can trigger the release of serotonin, a neurotransmitter associated with feelings of happiness and well-being in the brain. “When I was little boy, every Wednesday night was ‘Spaghetti Night.’ And after all the dishes were washed, ‘Spaghetti Night’ turned into ‘Labeling Night,’” Duplin co-owner Dave Fussell says, launching into a funny story and sharing his mother’s spaghetti sauce recipe.

Home Sweeter Home

Sit back, take a deep breath and enjoy your home. Spend peaceful weekend afternoons with the aroma of your favorite candle. Listen to or read funny stories in your favorite place to sit. Surprise the kids with a vintage Saturday morning cartoon hour that includes favorites from your childhood and treats you’re not supposed to eat for breakfast.

National Hot Toddy Day January 11

Leave out the whisky for a low-alcohol version. And try lightly sweet Carlos in this honey-laced, soul-warming drink. No matter how you make the Duplin Hot Toddy, one thing is certain: You’ll reach for this drink every time the temperature dips.

National Soup Month

The ultimate winter comfort food is a winner any day in January. Slow-cookier recipes like creamy Ranch Chicken Chili; classic ham & navy bean soup with a splash of Hatteras Red; and traditional beef stew with a hint of Black River Red make soup night so easy. For football watching, simmer a pot of Art's Easy Firehouse Chili.

Gourmet Coffee Day January 18

There’s no better gourmet coffee than an espresso martini that’s ridiculously easy to make and lower in alcohol. Mind you, it’s OK to add that shot of vodka, but this version with Duplin American Port wine is so tasty, you won’t miss the 80-proof kick.

International Sweatpants Day January 21

Pull on your favorite snuggly sweats and curl up for a night of binge watching. From drama-filled series to laugh-out-loud comedies, we’ve got the Binge Watch 3-Bottle Wine Bundles that’ll keep you sipping through every unforgettable scene.

Power of Storytelling Party

“Yellowstone” fans will appreciate this but put your own spin on the best party idea to close January. Generations of ranch families in Elko, Nev., experience the joys of sharing wonderful stories, timeless poems and dancing to good, ol’ western music during National Cowboy Poetry Gathering Week the last week of January. Take a cue from them or theme your own storytelling night. Invite relatives to share family stories. Call friends to read aloud their favorite poems, snippets of novels or something original. Maybe someone will sing! Mix in old photos and video. Make it a potluck. And pour favorite wines shipped for free.
