Port Ginger Fizz Cocktail

Everyone searches for the best gravy and mashed potato recipes for Thanksgiving, but the cocktails are just as important. Our Port Ginger Fizz with spiced rum is an on-the-rocks special full of cozy, warm holiday happiness.

Ingredients:

  • 1 orange
  • 1 ounce of dark spiced rum
  • 1.5 ounces Duplin American Port
  • 3 drops bitters
  • 3 to 4 ounces extra-spicy ginger ale or ginger beer

Directions:

  1. Use a vegetable peeler to cut a 2-inch-long piece of orange zest from the orange. The zest should be about 1 inch wide. Be careful to cut just the orange zest without any of the white pith just under the skin.
  2. Set aside the piece of orange zest. You will not need the rest of the orange.
  3. Fill a large brandy snifter about 1/3 full with ice cubes.
  4. Add spiced rum, Duplin Port and bitters to the glass. Stir gently.
  5. Add ginger ale or ginger beer to the glass. Stir gently until just combined.
  6. Squeeze the piece of orange zest over the glass to release the zest’s oils. Rub the orange zest around the rim of the glass and then drop the peel into the glass.
  7. Makes 1 serving.
