Cream Cheese Garlic Bread

We just upped the game on Korean Cream Cheese Garlic Bread for the ultimate Super Bowl, March Madness, Cinco de Mayo or anytime you have a party snack. The decadently cheesy, crispy, warm bread making the rounds on Instagram and TikTok calls for sandwich rolls. Well, forget that! We created a huge pull-apart version by filling a massive loaf of Italian bread with the famous cheese dip you get at Duplin Winery tastings. If you want the bread even cheesier, add the optional mozzarella cheese.

Ingredients:

  • Two 8-ource blocks cream cheese, at room temperature
  • 2/3 cup Duplin Gourmet Muscadine Pineapple Habanero Salsa
  • Optional: 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 2 sticks unsalted butter
  • ¼ cup milk, room temperature
  • 2 eggs, room temperature
  • ¼ cup chopped fresh chives, parsley or green tops of scallions
  • 2 large cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 large loaf Italian bread

Directions:

  1. Place cream cheese, salsa and, if using, mozzarella cheese in a large bowl. Using a heavy spoon, stir ingredients until well blended. Set aside.
  2. Place butter in a large glass bowl. Place bowl in the microwave and heat on high until butter is just melted. Remove butter from microwave and set aside to cool slightly.
  3. In a large measuring cup, whisk together milk and eggs until well blended. Pour milk mixture into melted butter in bowl. Stir minced herb or scallions and garlic into butter mixture. Set aside.
  4. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  5. Lay the bread on a large cutting board.
  6. Cut a lengthwise slit down the middle of the loaf, without cutting through the bottom. Leave about an inch of uncut bread on both ends.
  7. Cut horizontal slits across the loaf, leaving about a half-inch of uncut bread on the ends and being careful not to cut through the bottom of the bread.
  8. Using a spoon or pastry bag, carefully fill all the slits with the cheese mixture.
  9. Transfer the filled loaf to a large baking sheet.
  10. Generously brush the butter mixture all over the bread, being sure to scoop up chopped herbs on the brush.
  11. Bake the loaf for 20-25 minutes, until cheese is heated through and loaf is brown and crispy.
  12. Remove bread from the oven and cool on the pan for 5 minutes.
  13. Makes 12-15 servings.
