A pineapple white 'wine' spritzer for Dry January -- or anytime

Maybe you're doing Dry January and looking for mocktail recipes. Or maybe, you just want non-alcoholic drinks to sip with breakfast or brunch. Either way, this Pineapple Scuppernong Spritzer made with Duplin alcohol-free wine is a refreshing sparkler to fill the bill.

Duplin Scuppernong non-alcoholic wine has the pure sweetness of Scuppernong grapes, a variety of muscadines. Florentine explorer Giovanni de Verrazzano described Scuppernongs as white grapes when he first saw them growing wild during his explorations in the early 1500s of what is now the Cape Fear River area of coastal North Carolina. The big juicy bronze or greenish grapes are an end-of-summer treat fresh off the vines in southeastern North Carolina. This drink captures that flavor in the flute.

We added pineapple juice and a splash of lime to temper the sugary grape. Sparkling water gives this spritzer a fizzy lift. A few pineapple chunks dropped into the glass and thinly sliced fresh lime rings decorating the rims make the spritzer fancy enough for a bridal brunch and festive enough for casual after-work meetups. 

When you're ready to add a little kick, simply replace Scuppernong alcohol-free wine with Duplin's regular Scuppernong wine.
